Design Centre is a voluntary work placement scheme from Southern Regional College.
Founded in 2015 by SRC lecturer Michael Toman, this placement offers live briefs from a wide range of clients and partnered graphic design companies, such as Part Two.
During my time with Design Centre, I worked with Part Two on the HandiCaddy and Smoking Awareness Circle projects, I worked with SRC themselves on the Prince's Trust leaflet, and I produced a short film in collaboration with Toman's videography company Story of Eve
I think that working on live briefs with world-renowned companies such as Part Two, Paperjam and Kaizen Print benefits participants greatly in terms of experience, learning new techniques and setting a benchmark for where you want your skillset to be. It really gives you an insight as to how industry professionals work.
